Song : At The T&R
Details
The original version of this song was recorded with only an acoustic guitar and my live vocals on two tracks.
Later for this version I layered on bass and drums, however since the tempo wanders quite a bit I had trouble playing the drums in time. My solution was to record each drum individually (snare, kick, crash, cowbell) so I could adjust timing as needed in post production. It's a fun little ditty.
I'm also proud of the background vocals which I was going for a spaghetti western cowboy vibe.
Lyrics
you left my heart in albany and i love you why don't you love me well i guess i'm gonna have to drink alone
you ran away with another man now all i got is a sore right hand while i stink and drink and wander aimlessly
my truck is up on cinder blocks i ain't got any friends everyone's got something against me woo-hoo oooh, oooh
i used to have all my pearly whites but i got in one too many fights and now my smile's as broken as my heart
my dog he is my only friend and the trailer park won't let me in rent's overdue and it's all because of you
someone slashed my tires again i ain't got any friends but i found a place where everyone's like me at the T&R
[bridge] my baby left me broken hearted tore it out then she departed but happiness I found not very far at the T&R
(restaurant, that is - yeee-haww)
[twangin' slide guitar solo]
[muted verse] you left my heart in albany i love you but you don't love me now i'll never, ever have to drink alone
you see i found a place with folk like me they're sad and bad and angrily we sit around and bitch about the world
[full volume] i'm happy now and smile again 'cause i got so many friends they all got a story just like me at the T&R
[bridge] my baby left me broken hearted tore it out then she departed but happiness I found not very far at the T&R
[end riff] [mention something about truckers and ranchers] R.I.P.
